Product Information: AQ-SCAV and AQ-SCAV+

Product Description

AQ-SCAV+ is a non-triazine based hydrogen sulfide (H2S) scavenger designed for single / multi-phase applications, downhole treatments, and wet gas, direct gas injection, while AQ-SCAV is a 20-25% active concentration. Both can be used in a gas contact tower with appropriate precautions in place to limit the degree spent and control solid deposition.

Test Data

A sour crude with 6500 ppm H2S was treated with commercial oil soluble scavengers and
AQ-SCAV/AQ-SCAV+ at three treat rates, 750 ppm, 1000 ppm and1200 ppm along with a H2S probe
study comparing AQ-SCAV/AQ-SCAV+ vs MEA Triazine was conducted as seen in tables below.

Oil & Gas Applications

  • Direct Injection
  • Multi-phase line injection
  • Downhole (moderate to extensive contact time)
  • Gas contact tower
  • Bubble tower
  • Sour crude
  • Produced water

Results

As the performance evaluations show, the incorporation of AQ-SCAV/AQ-SCAV+ results in the fastest H2S reduction at all use levels compared to the two oil soluble scavengers (A & B). Using a cutting-edge test method known as the “H2S probe”, AQ-SCAV/AQ-SCAV+ was put through its paces and compared on an equal mass actives basis to the industry standard MEA triazine1. In this method a pH buffered solution of H2S/SH- (expressed as total sulfide) is treated by repeated addition of the scavenger as a 10% actives solution. The total sulfide removed at each addition is then plotted against the total mass of active scavenger added to what is, essentially, an H2S mitigation titration. The data in the H2S Probe Table clearly shows that AQ-SCAV/AQ-SCAV+ is on a completely different and higher trajectory than MEA triazine. This difference when applied to a real-world sour oil & gas treatment gives AQ-SCAV/AQ-SCAV+ a distinct performance advantage.
